The Chilean media is now certain that Alexis Sanchez will be an Arsenal player as journalists have claimed that the forward has tonight bade farewell to Barcelona staff on his way to Arsenal.

It is believed that Arsene Wenger spoke to Sanchez over the phone to persuade him to make the switch to the North London outfit, as he did with Mesut Özil last summer.

The 25-year-old reportedly rejected a move to Liverpool as both the Meyerside club and Barcelona wanted to include him in a deal that would bring Luis Suarez to Camp Nou.

However, Arsenal agreed a deal in principle with Sanchez before the World Cup and have submitted a £22million bid for his services. Juventus have also lodged a bid for the former Udinese man but Barcelona prefer Arsenal’s more lucrative deal.

Barcelona are keen to push a deal through to help fund their £71million move for Suarez and are in advanced negotiations with Arsenal over his fee which could be pushed past £25million.

The Chilean winger is expected to earn £140,000 per week which is twice his current salary at Barcelona.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have turned their attention to capturing Bayern Munich and Switzerland star Xherdan Shaqiri.

Arsenal hope to conclude business with Barcelona and Newcastle, for the purchase of Mathieu Debuchy, ahead of their Puma kit release next week.
